Comfort Zones as Barriers in Golf Print E-mail

...When comfort zones can actually become a barrier in your game

What exactly may be the difference between a professional player and an amateur? Sometimes it may be just how far you are willing to go. If a golf player is too afraid to step out farther in his/her game because of set comfort zones that they may have established for themselves, playing too safe can be the very hurdle that may be keeping you from an excellent game. What we want to do here is get past these set zones and widen the area in which we feel comfortable playing. This will logically improve one’s game as you do not have to fight anxiety or apprehension along with the other normal pressures which come with game performance. Decreasing any game anxiety by widening one’s comfort zones in golf can actually be a great tool in improving one’s game. Anxiety and mental stress can definitely take away from one’s game focus and any golfer knows that focus is very important to one’s performance.

Self-expectations in Golf

One’s own expectations can actually limit one’s game. If you believe that you can only climb this high, how can you expect to get to the top of the mountain? The professional golfers do not stop when they get to 4-under par after 12 holes. Their goal may be to get to 5-under. This kind of mindset may be quite different from those amateur golfers who stick to their comfort zone limits. A lot of this kind of development that we see in professional golfers has to do with the foundation of their confidence.

Proper Confidence

This confidence we see in these golfers comes from a particular kind of practice which focuses on its quality and steady improvement, along with mental preparation.

In order to reach that personal low round, preparation for the course is of key importance. It wouldn’t hurt to set your own game plan as well. You must be ready to handle any kind of distraction that comes your way also. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t just practice in such a manner where a good swing can come your way every so often. You should know how to repeat a good swing from your practice. To be able to go low, you should throw away any preconceived notions of what is impossible in your game.

Keep your mind and actions open

If you keep your mind and actions open, your expanse will be wide enough to reach the stars. If you miss, you’ll still be floating in the clouds, right? Make sure that you begin by realizing exactly where you place your own barriers in order for you to take these hurdles away. Don’t let yourself continue to be blocked by your own self-limitations. At times, you can be the only thing that is keeping yourself from going further. You must recognize these instances and break barriers in order to unleash the success which lies within you.
