Guidelines for Golf Safety Print E-mail

Generally speaking, golf is one of the more safe sports, but still if some logical safety guidelines are not followed, one can still be harmed in play.

Awareness very important in golf, for the safety of others and yourself while in play. Accidents have occurred due to a lack of awareness and irresponsible actions. Keeping your temper down even while swings may not be going your way is also important to remember in order to steer clear of any disruption. Remember, that’s why they call it a game! Relax.

Just thinking about it, golf is all about swinging clubs and propelling balls at great speeds. This can sound like a recipe for disaster or safety hazard if one is not aware of his/her moves. Getting caught in the middle of all this can clearly put one in danger if he/she is not careful. The following are guidelines to keep in mind while playing a round of golf.

Be aware of those near you

Of course if you are holding a golf club and in preparation for a swing, you’ve got to take a look around you to make sure nobody is standing a little too close. As long as your golfing group is 4 or even less golfers, this shouldn’t be a problem. If someone is near you, tell them to take a few steps back. Even when you are taking some practice swings, you should be aware of whoever may be watching or beside you. When at practice, this may be a time when you are not as aware of your surroundings and more focused on yourself and what you are doing. Take the time to ensure the safety of others as well.

These points should be taken in extra special consideration when you have young golfers around too. Make sure to look ahead and to both sides of where you are set to aim so golfers ahead are not in the range of your shot.

Take care of yourself, too!

Also you’ve got to take care of yourself as well! If it’s not your turn to hit, but another golfer’s, take a look around in order to keep yourself out of harm’s way. This should be especially noted when venturing into fairways which are adjoining because of an errant shot or in order to retrieve a ball. You may be hit in these areas if you are nearby and golfers are hitting in your direction.

Awareness is of key importance in golf safety. Keep yourself a good distance from those in your own group as they prepare for a stroke.

Fore!

“Fore!” has been a well-known golf trademark for years, if all of a sudden while you are hitting your drive you notice that golfers were covered by an obstruction up ahead, make sure that you make them aware of it. P.S. It wouldn’t hurt to where some sunscreen too when you’re out there basking in the sun’s rays! Protect your skin for more golf games!
